With much excitement we managed to wangle an invite to the private view of the Robin & Lucienne Day exhibition at Pallant House last Friday & it didn't disappoint. The show is compact and bijou but packed full of the iconic textiles and furniture which the Days created.
There is a great slideshow of the exhibition on Wallpaper* if you can't get to the show, but the opportunity to get up close & personal with the textiles is well worth the effort if you can.
Another highlight was the Festival of Britain show downstairs in the gallery, full of lots of beautiful memorabilia and souvenirs from the Festival. Becky got a little distraught at the sight of some stamps, as her father had visited the Festival...given her some stamps which then got 'borrowed' by a teacher and not returned...we are now trying to avoid the subject! The film above (via Pallant House) is a real snapshot of the time.....optimistic soundtrack, lots of good enunciation & men in hats!
